Associate Teaching Professor, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering

Dr. Tania Demonte Gonzalez is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Michigan Technological University, where she earned her Ph.D., M.S., and B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Her work focuses on dynamic systems modeling and control, especially for marine renewable energy devices like wave energy converters. She has collaborated with partners like the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), Sandia National Labs, and the University of Minnesota–Duluth to develop advanced control strategies that help optimize performance and lower costs for marine energy technologies. As a former Teaching Fellow, she developed a passion for student-centered teaching that blends theory with hands-on projects and real-world applications. She is dedicated to creating engaging learning experiences that help students connect complex models to practical engineering challenges.
